correction friends.....grant is NOT one of the founders of taps, not even close! it had been going on a few years before grant joined. jason hawes and Brian Harnois actually began the group then Brian invited a dear friend steve to join and then of course we know steve eventaully back stabbed Brian got him and donna (who was rumored to be having an affair with jason) got moved to GHI and now big scared of everything steve (lol )is the top dawg. personally I dont care for it since one of the originals (case files manager, since day 1) Donna admitted as well as Brian that they had been asked to falsify hauntings for a higher ratings for the show. So.... either way good riddance in my opinion.

Grant will be missed but his decision shows that he has his priorities in the right place. As i love the paranormal, I still have to wonder why after all these years ghost shows still take the hunt and peck approach to ghost hunting and not a environment monitoring approach. The proof is not in the end "sighting" but in what happens before the "event". Yes it is good entertainment in " what was that!" "did you hear that? it gets us all hopeful, but in reality it still is open to interpretation. Jason and Grant had the opportunity to shift the way we think of ghost hunting to a new and more scientific approach, but they let it go.
I know some will say that a to scientific approach will not get viewers, Not once did they use a proper methodology in obtaining "evidence". I mean What happen to Ion fluctuation? Or 3d camera or quad camera? Electrostatic measurements of the "area"
How about the geological composition of the ground under the site? Was there underground rivers or streams? What was the composition of the water ? Did it have Iron particulates? How about measuring the speed of what just "zipped" across the room? There are plenty of equipment to measure that as well as methods. What was the air composition.
They could have educated a lot of people to be more science oriented in their approach, but instead they chose to keep us in the stone age of ghost hunting as far as approach. Yes they brought us into using new gadgets to hunt, which did wonders for the electronic economy, but left a lot of us still saying non conclusive or they edited it. When they could have left us saying WOW that is gonna be hard to debunk. Well Just my opinions and I know we all have them. Either way I gonna miss Grant on the show. My positive thoughts to you and yours Grant.

Sounds like sour grapes and professional rivalry to an outsider like me. I just wanted to know why Grant was leaving, not a bunch of "who struck John"

I watched about 4 episodes when the show started and figurred out it was BS. If it took some more than that figure out two septic tank divers were hokey pokey, well the paranormal world is in trouble. At least they got some free equipment. To be SyFy sucks all around. Their original movies are the worst. SyFy has made a mockery out of science fiction.

Like everyone else who has written a comment I too am sad that Grant has gone. With that said the program is entertaining and I take it for that purpose only. Myself I am enjoying watching GHI more because they go to different places and you get a bit of a history lesson. All in all those that are in the field I respect immensely and those that are not I still respect as well. Thank you..

I don't believe in the paranormal but do watch Ghost Hunters and GHI. Someone posted about the possibility of Grant leaving the show because of Kris. (?). I really didn't notice anything during that particular Salem episode. I know that Kris began spending more and more time with GHI and teamed up with Barry which led me to think that the two of them have something going on. If they are both single, good for them.
I too am sad to know that Grant won't be a part of Ghost Hunters but like many of you said, eight years is a long time to be on the road and away from family. He has looked sad for quite awhile. I wish him well and hope everything works out for him.

I am the case manager for a TAPS family group (Northern, MN). Grant Wilson is the reason why I got into the field to begin with--and I will personally miss him. Even the much smaller chunk of time that I am out investigating, as compared to Grant Wilson, sometimes puts a strain on family time, and so I commend Grant for taking the high road and putting family first.

In regards to faking evidence, I think that everyone needs to understand that although Jason and Grant have acted in the capacity of Executive Producers, they do not have the final say in what is aired--Pilgrim and SyFy do. In fact, it is Grant's ethical guidelines that have lead me to completely seperate the paranormal investigation and fiction writing components of my life. I do not believe that Grant would purposefully fake evidence. That is my opinion of Grant Wilson and I'm sticking to it.

With all that said, I would like to thank Tim Yancey for the well thought out blog post. It was well written. My hope is that we all can come together some day. Just think if all teams, despite their differences, compiled their information. We might actually make some progress in figuring out the science behind paranormal activity.

I feel so bad for Grant. He seems like such a nice guy, but Tim seems like such a douchebag. Hold a grudge much, Tim? You should be sucking the "ghost hunters" balls and asking them how much they like it. The only reason I found your crappy blog was because I wanted to find out why Grant left the show recently. Instead I find you crying about your problems and "collargate". Sounds like Tim is about to start up "douchegate". Even the people that write on your blog like Grant better than you. You don't know shit about Grant's personal life maybe his wife caught him fuckin' a ghost. You wouldn't know. The thing you need to do is to see how you can help those guys because if they go off the air all the people like you who piggyback off these guys will be out of a job too. I bet your most popular keyword search is "ghosthunters". None of this matters anyways because while it is entertaining everyone knows ghosts aren't real.

I believe tht the show has lost if not all, than most of its credibility. I truly hate to be so brutal but the show started out well (first 2 seasons) after that it was one hoax after another. The other cast members do more harm than good to paranormal research. I wish that either ghost hunters would be cancelled and replaced with a more authentic research show or totally revamped with a new more credible cast. Bottom line they all need to hang it up.

I have to say I thought Steve was leaving the TAPS team and that really would have saddened me. But, I truly felt every word Grant was saying. I had to leave a job that I absolutely loved and cried when handing in my resignation. But, I had to leave for my son and it is so hard to make that choice. You know what the right choice is supposed to be but it is so hard when the "job" is what made you who you are as a person. It was gut wrenching to watch and feel badly for him. I do want to make one final comment now knowing it was Grant who was leaving. Back when they did the Salem episode, I remember Kris gushing about Grant and couldn't help but hope she didn't have ulterior motives or that something wasnt going on behind the scenes. Then, I saw them advertising her in the International group during commercials last night and was wondering if something did happen and they shipped her off. I know it is gossipy to throw that in the mix now, but, it was already on my mind and I didnt like her since that Salem episode. If he did slip and now it has hurt his marriage, I guess that is the price you pay. You really do lose it all. I hope it is not the case and it's simply not being home with the family. Let them run their Inn as a happy family and find something together again. I truly wish him all the best.
